Martyred JSQM leaders laid to rest

RATODERO: Two martyred nationalist leaders Maqsood Ahmed Qureshi and Salman Wadho were laid to rest here on Monday morning amid tears by activists and leader of Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (JSQM).

Qureshi was the younger brother of slain JSQM Chairman Bashir Khan Qureshi and Wadho was the President of Lateef Sangat, a student wing of JSQM. Their funeral prayers were offered at Tibet Centre in Karachi on Sunday and then the bodies were brought here for burial rites.

They were killed in mysterious conditions near Padidan on Friday and their bodies were set ablaze along with a car in which they were travelling in.

The body of Salman Wadho was brought to his native village Wadho near Garhi Yasin from where it was brought in Ratodero for burial. Their funeral prayers were again offered at Ratodero bypass and then both were laid to rest alongside the grave of slain JSQM Chairman Bashir Khan Qureshi.

Thousands of JSQM workers and leaders, including Chairman JSQM Sanan Qureshi and party leader Dr Niaz Kalani took part in the burial. Later, they told media that a team of legal experts was examining how to register FIR against the agencies whom they thought were allegedly involved in the killings and added that after soyem they would lodge FIR.

Strict security arrangements were made on the occasion as police were called from five districts which remained alert throughout the day. Heavy contingents of Rangers were also deployed on main roads leading from Larkana to Ratodero and Naundero who were checking all the cars heading to these areas.

JSQM leaders are receiving condolences at the residence of Bashir Khan Qureshi.
