Masood dominates in Swiss Bridge

Karachi: Masood’s two teams dominated in the Swiss Team Tournament at Aslam Bridge Hall on Sunday evening. The winners of Aslam Memorial Bridge, Masood entered two teams in the weekend Bridge programme. Masood I annexed the weekly title registering thumping victory in all five segments of the day. The team scored 71.16 Victory Points.

The senior string of Masood, having Shahin Iqbal, Pervaiz Mirza, Salim Zaki, Masood Mazhar and Hamed Mohiuddin started their journey to the top defeating Pasha 15.25, then Mushahid 16.39, Karachi Aces put some resistance, but went fighting down 11.14, Ashraf fell to their aggression in the fourth round losing 18.28 and in the last segment they drew on level terms with their second strong, Masood-II, which had another impressive line up of Anwer Kizilbash, Ghufran Ashraf, Tehsin Gheewala, Anisur Rehman and Gulzar Bilal.

Masood-II finished runners up having a score of 65.23 V.P. and having 3 wins to their credit, losing one match to Pasha, winning three and drawing one n the last round. Pasha finished third, which team had the services of Azwrul Haque, Mushtaq Mahmood, Noori Pasha and Jawad Abedi.

In the pair session, Anwer Kizilbash – Anis ur Rehman finished on top with an impressive score of 653.06% followed by established pair of Hamed Mohiuddin and Ziaullah Baig 61.15% and Ghaffar Qureshi – Zafar Zaki 58.92%.
