Met: (PMD installs earthquake monitoring instrument in various cities)

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has installed most modern “Earthquake Monitoring Instruments” in various cities of the country to monitor the underground activities.

According to Met Office spokesman, although occurrence of earthquake could not be forecasted but it could be monitored regularly. He said accurate monitoring of underground activities helps in taking preventive measures.

He said the monitoring instruments have been installed at Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Quetta, Khuzdar, Zhob, Turbat, Chitral, Cherat, Katas, Muzaffarabad, Balakot, Fort Manro, Tarbela, Gilgit, Skardu, Patan, Umarkot and Nagarparker.
