Minister directs monitoring industrial usage of methanol

KARACHI: Provincial Minister for Excise & Taxation Gayan Chand Esrani on Thursday directed to suspend issuance of new licenses for Methanol.

Addressing to meeting of Excise & Taxation department, Esrani directed relevant officers to consider all terms and condition for the issuance of new Methanol licenses. He warned that if any industry was found of selling Methanol it would be sealed.

He said that in postmortem reports of poisonous liquor affectees it was known that they used methanol ingredients which are used in sugar mills.

Department officers presented vigilance report before the minister.

Esrani directed officers for monitoring of industries which use methanol and directed to establish special team for monitoring such industries.

Secretary Excise & Taxation Abdul Majeed Pathan, Director General Muhammad Shoaib Siddiqui, Director Abdur Razzaq Radhan and other officers were present.
