Minister for compiling Sindh Assembly record

KARACHI: Provincial Minister for Environment and Coastal Development, Dr Sikandar Mandhro, said on Thursday that steps should be taken to establish a research library and a museum in old building of Sindh Assembly.

He issued directions to Sindh Assembly Secretariat officers to compile the records of the assembly and its members in light of research.

He further urged that names of members of Sindh Assembly, speakers, deputy speakers, opposition and ruling ministers and secretary Sindh Assembly be compiled with historical references from 1890, when four members from Sindh were elected in Bombay Legislative till 1935 when Sind was declared an autonomous province. Moreover, he said that Bombay Assembly may possibly be consulted for records prior to 1935, when Sindh Assembly was inaugurated.

Furthermore, he asked officers to compile the records of significant legislation in SA with historical references in book format and urged measures be taken to establish a research library and museum at international standard in old building of assembly.
