Minister lays down the foundation stone of the office of KP Human Rights Department

Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Law, Parliamentary Affairs and Human Rights, Imtiaz Shahid Advocate on Tuesday laid down the foundation stone of the new building of the office of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Human Rights Department at Hayatabad in Peshawar.

Director General Anti-Corruption Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ziaullah Toru, Director Human Rights Noor Zaman Khattak, Additional Secretary Law, Aqal Badshah, Deputy Secretary Law Akbar Ali and a large number of other officers were also present on this occasion.

The Law Minister while speaking on the occasion said since the department of Human Rights has recently been established therefore serious efforts needed to be done to monitor the violations of human rights in the province.

He said the low level of literacy and awareness among the people mostly result in violation of human rights, hence the authorities of the Human Rights Department should work with more dedication, honesty and intelligence. He said the department of Human Rights was more important than any other department and its importance needed to be understood.

The government wanted the Human Rights Department to do an outstanding performance therefore its authorities should do its best to come upto the expectation of the government.

The Law Minister later visited the office of Anti-Corruption establishment where Director General of the Department briefed him about the steps taken by his administration. He told the Minister that a lot of work was being done in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, however, there was a need to do more in a missionary zeal to bring about real change in the province.
