Minor girl dies due to roads blockage for Bilawal’s protocol

KARACHI: A minor girl died near Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) on Wednesday after being unable to reach the hospital because of VIP protocol accorded to Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari for inanugrating a Trauma Center at the healthcare.

According to sources, a 10-month-old girl, Bismah, son of Faisal, a resident of Lyari area, was suffering from severe fever and her father was rushing her to CHK for emergency treatment but all link roads leading to the hospital were closed for protocol and security of Bilawal. As a result, the minor girl died on the way to the hospital.

However, Bilawal arrived in CHK, where he inanugrated the trauma center. He was accompanied by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Sindh Assembly Speaker Aga Suraj Durrani. The girl’s father, Faisal, told media that doctors said that life of minor child could have been saved if she was brought to the hospital 10 minutes earlier. PPP Co-Chairperson Asif Ali Zardari telephoned Sindh Chief Minister and directed him to conduct a probe into the matter and present a report within 72 hours.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party has taken a strong notice of the reports in electronic media about the death of a 10-year-old girl due to VVIP Security provided during his visit for inauguration of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Trauma Center near Civil Hospital, Karachi and ordered Sindh government for an impartial inquiry.

The PPP chairman said that a transparent inquiry should be conducted into the reported death and complete findings should be made public. He said anyone found responsible must be taken to task.
