Modern facilities to tourists: Project gains impetus in Malam Jabba

Swat:: As the number of tourists are growing in scenic valley of Swat to enjoy spectacle. Amid that, the project of setting up modern tourist resort, chairlift, and skiing facility has also gained great impetus in the picturesque strip of Malam Jabba.

With aim to optimize facilities for tourists on modern-line, the company is working on fast-track basis on the project. The fascinating valley visited every year by thousands of tourists not only from the country, but outside the world too, following reviving of tourism in Swat.

Swat is a holiday spot in summer season, which is also known as Switzerland of the country. The tourism had earlier dwindled due to prolonged militancy and insurgency in Swat. But, tourists are back to a greater number in the current summer, after swiftly restoration of peace, and ultimately tourism revived in beautiful Swat.

Under patronage of provincial government, the project of tourist resort, chairlift, and skiing, was floated by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Board of Investment and Trade in collaboration of Tourism Corporation of KP. Situated at the height of 8,700 feet above the sea level at one of the rooftops of the world, the Malam Jabba is known for its rugged mountains, splendid rivers, fountains, natural beauty and landscape.

Though, efforts are being advanced for provision of modern facilities to tourists in scenic valley, but the road is quite bumpy from Monglawar to Malam Jabba, which is in dire need of hour to give attention by authorities concerned towards its rehabilitation or reconstruction on urgent basis.

“It is significant project, which could definitely give further boost to tourism in the scenic valley of Swat, says Senator Mohsin Aziz, vice chairman of KP-BoIT while elaborating the importance of the project.

The project awarded to a well-reputed M/S Samson Group of Companies on long lease, which had initially credited of developing resort/chairlift/skiing facility in same location two to three decade ago. A land of measuring 275-acre was acquired for establishment of tourists’ facilities. The establishment of modern Ski will provide opportunity to the tourists to enjoy skiing at adventurous resorts. Chairlift will be also installed to enhance value to the resort.

Mr Aziz disclosed the work on establishing skiing facility will be completed in very shortly, while chairlift, imported from abroad, would soon be installed. He furthered said the tourist hotel/resort partially completed uptill now, would also be completed by end of this year.

“We are making all out efforts to lure investment in tourism, hydel, oil, gas and other potential sectors, KPBOIT chairman said, when asked about initiatives of board towards attracting local as well as foreign investment in KP.

Preliminary, he explained a number of projects in various sectors, mainly in tourism and energy sector, oil, gas, had conceived, while the board made progress to attract investment in these potential sectors. He said: We are inviting investors with entrepreneurial spirit and an appetite for risk and motivation for higher return.

Mr Aziz furthermore viewed KP offers vast opportunities of investment. Incumbent provincial government welcomes the foreign investment with open hand and has always followed liberal policy towards it. The attitude of the KP Government towards foreign investment is highly appreciated. The investment policy is friendly towards local as well as foreign investors, and free of hurdles, he added.

Over and above the creation of a business-friendly environment, he said the provincial government and KP-BoIT have actively pursuing investment-promotion policies to fill in information gaps or correct perception gaps that may hinder local and foreign investment inflows.
