MoU between the ISA and Information and PRs Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa signed in IslamabadMarch 9, 2016
Peshawar: In order to help the officers of information and PRs Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa get acquainted with the modern communication mechanism and Public Relation approaches, a memorandum of understanding was signed between Information and PRs Department KP and Information Services Academy(ISA) Islamabad here on Thursday.
The memorandum was inked by Abid Majeed, secretary Information and PRs Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Shiraaz Lateef Director General ISA, Islamabad on behalf of their respective organizations.
The event was witnessed by a number of officers from Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and Information Department government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Secretary information Abid Majeed on this occasion while highlighting the role of information department said orientation of information and PRs Department in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had been changed from information to Public Relations which he said was a must for informed decision making.
Referring to the recent developments in the information and PRs Department, he said that a software based monitoring had been initiated at ITTLA cell of the Directorate of Information where clips and reports were not only generated but also shared with all the stakeholders so that a clear picture of public perception can be had.
Similarly, he said, that strategic communication wing was in the offing which will guide the government on how to communicate effectively, responding to various issues concerning the provincial Government and masses of the province.
He added that reporters at each union council across the province will be hired Through NTS and 986 reporters will weekly submit two stories from their respective union councils he went on saying that these Union Council based reporters not only will bridge the gap between the masses and their elected representatives but will also work as social mobilizers at gross root level.
Abid Majeed claimed that information department after scrutinizing not only will share selected reports with media but would also enhance the capacity of these reporters, thus promoting citizen journalism.
He said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa once again was in the catbird seat to get benefited from the Information Services Academy and hoped that other provinces will also follow.
Earlier Director General ISA Shiraz Lateef welcoming the Information and PRs Department, termed the MoU a mile stone and assured all sort of facilitations to the trainee officers.
Director General Internal Publicity Nasir Jamal while addressing this occasion said that the Information and PRs Department’s motto “Technology is our ideology” is very much appreciable He added that I SA , enjoyed excellent reputation and will fully facilitate the officer of information department.. He said the partnership will be very much useful for both the academy and Information Department.
Others who represented Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information and PRs department included Director Information Shoaibuddin, Station Director Pakhtunkhwa Radio Peshawar Ansarullah Khilji and Assistant Director Information Amjad Behzad.
