MQM leaders asks activists to remain calm

KARACHI, A large number of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) workers and supporters on Tuesday gathered outside MQM headquarters, 90, after the news of MQM Chief Altaf Hussain arrest in London by Scotland Yard spread in the city like wildfire.

Several MQM lawmakers in federal and Sindh assembly were also present at MQM headquarters and they pacified the angry activists over the matter of arrest of the party chief.

The supporters were chanting slogans in favour of MQM Chief and demanding the MQM office-bearers to inform them regarding the true situation of the current developing story.

Addressing the supporters, MQM leader Farooq Sattar said that it was time for party activists to remain calm, united and act upon the teachings of MQM chief Altaf Husain.

He said that the party was passing through a difficult phase; however, it would pass through this tense situation as it had successfully passed through such difficult times in the past.

Speaking on the occasion, MQM leader Haider Abbas Rizvi said that it was prime responsibility of the activists not to resort to violence and remain peaceful.

He denied reports of MQM chief arrest in London and said that Hussain was still in his home. “It is time for party activists to be composed and avoid spreading rumours.”

He said that those who were involved in creating panic among the citizens were not MQM activists. “Our activists are one who follow Altaf Hussain’s teachings of peace and unity,” he said.

He said that the party leadership would keep the activists updated over any development in London.
