MQM’s workers missing: SHC seeks comments from Rangers, police

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday sought comments from Director General Rangers Sindh, Inspector General Sindh and home secretary, on the petitions seeking whereabouts of three Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) workers.

SHC bench headed by Justice Sajjad Ali Shah was seized with the hearing of petitions against law enforcers for illegally detaining MQM workers Kamran, Sarfaraz.

According to the petitioners, Kamran was detained by the law enforcers on 12th September from Ranchore Lane area whereas Sarfaraz was picked by on 18th September from Malir. Whereabouts of both the persons has not been traced yet.

Citing DG Rangers Sindh, IGP Sindh, and home secretary as respondents, the petitioners prayed the court to direct the respondents to produce the detainees before the court.

After the initial hearing, the court issued notices to Attorney General and respondents to file their comments on 12th November.
