MYC for peace, harmony during MuharramOctober 11, 2015
KARACHI: Milli Yakjehti Council (MYC), a platform of religious parties to promote harmony, has resolved to maintain peace and harmony during the month of Muharram-ul-Harram and announced that lawbreakers would not be allowed to breach the unity of Muslims.
The MYC held a meeting on Monday at Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi office, Idara Noor e Haq, to discuss ways and means to ensure peace and harmony in the city during the month.
The meeting demanded of the government to move the apex court for revision on some of the recent rulings that are directly associated with religious sentiments and peace in society.
Addressing the meeting, MYC head Sahabzada Abulkhair called for sectarian harmony and unity. He was of the view that banning non-controversial religious clerics and programs in Muharram may cast negative impact on efforts for maintaining peace during the month.
He also criticized the ban on loudspeaker and said it is aimed at to fail the national action plan.
JI leader Asadullah Bhutto said some miscreants are spreading hatred and terrorism, but their conspiracies would be foiled with unity and harmony.
JI leader Engr. Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has said that peace is the need of hour for all of us. He suggested that any decision that is in confrontation to the constitution and Islamic teaching should be reviewed.
Allama Nazir Abbas Naqvi said that the message of Muharram is peace, love and harmony.
