NA: (Deputy Head. UKaid meets NA’s Deputy Speaker)

ISLAMABAD: Ms. Judith Herberston, Deputy Head. UKaid called on Deputy Speaker National Assembly, Murtaza Javed Abbasi at Parliament House here on Tuesday.

The Deputy Speaker said that Pakistan values high its relations with United Kingdom and wanted to further expand the existing relations through enhanced Parliamentary and economic cooperation.

He appreciated UKaid assistance for socio-economic development of Pakistan. He said that Pakistan was badly affected by the terrorism especially the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province. He said that terrorists were against the girls education and targeted educational institutions especially girls schools in KPK.

He also said that the present infrastructure in education and health sectors is insufficient in the Province. He suggested for for construction of new school buildings and hospitals besides upgradation of existing schools and hospitals.

Ms. Judith Herberston, Deputy Head apprised the Deputy Speaker about the UK support programme to Pakistan especially KPK.

She told that the Department for the International Development is currently providing a portfolio of programme worth over 403 million UK Pounds to KPK Province for education, health, infrastructures, (including schools and bridges), finance management reforms, support of civil society and responding to humanitarian needs.
