NA discusses prevailing political situation

Islamabad: The National Assembly resumed its session on Wednesday and continued discussion on the prevailing political situation in the country.

Taking part in the discussion, Maulana Jamaluddin called upon the protesting parties not to use women and children as shield. He said we should work together to strengthen the country and the nation.

Obaidullah Shadikhel said a strategy should be devised to tackle the situation. He said we should also evolve a strategy so that such kind of dramas should not be staged again and again.

Abdul Rashid Godil appreciated the government for removing the hurdles and allowing the protesters to enter the red zone. He was of the view that the dialogue is the only way to resolve the issues. However, he said the dialogue should be held within the parameters of the constitution.

Sher Akbar Khan urged the protesting parties to end their sit-ins as the country cannot afford these tactics.

He said these marches and sit-ins have already caused billions of rupees loss to the country. He asked the Supreme Court to take suo-moto notice of the unlawful activities in the red zone.

He demanded of the government to take steps to abolish the dual nationality of Tahirul Qadri.

Ejaz Hussain Jakhrani urged the PTI chairman Imran Khan to give reasons to justify his demands. He said solution of the problems lies in democracy.

He said it is the beauty of the democracy that the protesting parties have entered the red zone without any bloodshed. He said there is a need to promote politics of reconciliation for strengthening democracy in the country. He criticized Tahirul Qadri for using his religious followers in politics.

He said the government and opposition should sit together and find a solution to the crisis.

Mahmood Khan Achakzai rising on another point of order said the parliament must remain in session till the fight between democratic and undemocratic forces is going on.

He urged the parliamentary leaders to advise their members to remain present in the session. He asked the Prime Minister not to resign at any part because he is leading this parliament.

He was of the view that Prime Minister should answer the protesting parties’ leadership from the platform of the parliament.

In her speech Shazia Mari vehemently said we will not allow anyone to undermine the authority of the parliament and abuse the constitution.

She said the PTI chairman is talking about civil disobedience while having a government in the province which is very wrong.
