NA (Rigging allegations by political parties in KPLG polls are genuine: Pirzada)June 15, 2015
Islamabad: Responding to a call attention notice moved by the ANP leaders, Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination Riaz Hussain Pirzada said that concerns expressed by the political parties on the massive rigging and irregularities in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s local government elections are genuine.
He said the Election Commission of Pakistan made all necessary arrangements for the transparent conduct of the elections but the provincial government failed to fulfil its responsibility especially with regards to maintenance of law and order.
He said that the Election Commission had asked the provincial government to hold the local bodies elections in phases but the provincial government opted to hold the elections on one day.
He said that according to the Election Commission of Pakistan report, the security apparatus on the polling day was very thin and police personnel were not able to control the situation.
