NAB arrested Arsalan Qureshi in WWB case

Peshawar: NAB (KPK) today arrested Arsalan Qureshi, Proprietor Arsalan Stationers a co-accused and son of accused Abdul Waheed Qureshi, Project Officer, Worker Welfare Board (WWB) who is already in Centre Jail Peshawar, allegedly involved in sub-standard, fake and fraudulent purchase of different items including Scientific Equipments, Electrical Instruments, Computers, Refrigerators etc for Worker Welfare Board, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

As per details, inquiry regarding corruption and corrupt practices in procurement of equipments by officers / officials of Worker Welfare Board (KP) and other is under progress with NAB (KP). The allegations involved Rs. 3.5 Billion loss to State Exchequer for sub-standard as well as fake purchases in violation of rules.

The inquiry conducted so far has revealed that (WBB) has purchased more than Rs. 250.00 Million of different items from Arsalan Stationers. Moreover, the company was just got registered days before award of contracts and no genuine competition took place. Rs. 250.00 Million were paid to Arsalan Qureshi, Proprietor Arsalan Stationers for supply of different items for WWB.

Fake bid documents were submitted to Tender Opening Committee by stealing letter heads of different companies and the contract was awarded to Arsalan Stationers on highly exorbitant rates, hence huge loss was caused to the State Exchequer. The accused person will be produced before the Accountability Court Peshawar for obtaining his physical remand.
