NAB KP arrests two sub-engineers of public health engineering department Nowshera

Peshawar: NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa today arrested Omer Hayat and Abdullah Sub-Engineers of Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) Nowshera allegedly involved in purchase of Sub-standard transformers at exorbitant rates and loss to the Govt Exchequer of Rs. 13.4 Million.

As per details the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa purchased electric transformers under Tamiri Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Public Health Engineering Department, for which PHED Nowshera was not authorized. Moreover the advertisement for purchase of transformers was devoid of vital information.

During the course of inquiry the accused persons Omer Hayat and Abdullah Sub-Engineers did not monitor the installation of transformers also signed the measurement books and payments were released to the contractor. Even they did not ensure the installation of the transformers after the payment to the contractor. Furthermore the transformers so purchased were not as per approved brand of WAPDA/PESCO and were below specifications. It was also revealed during the inquiry that some transformers are still lying without any use in the Hujras of private persons.

NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is actively pursuing the inquiry. The accused persons will be produced before the Accountability Court for obtaining their physical remand.
