KARACHI: Former mayor of Karachi Naimatullah Khan on Saturday condemned the attack on the office of Online news agency in Quetta and killing of journalists. He said that such an act was an open terrorism. Khan said that journalist community had always raised voice for the right and truth. The voice of pen could not be pressed through force. The killing of Online news agency journalists Irshad Ahmed Mastoi, Abdul Rasul and Muhammad Younus was equivalent to throttling the freedom of journalism.

He said that the situation in Quetta has been bad since long and lives of people were not safe there. Government needed to establish its writ and ensure the security of life and property of common man.

“A few years back Pakistan had been named a dangerous country for journalists in the world. Government needs to take special steps to avert this perception by securing journalism and journalists so that the honour of the country could not be hurt,” he said.

He prayed for the deceased journalists and condoled with the family of the victims.
