National Aviation Policy being formulated

KARACHI: National Aviation Policy is being formulated in consultation with all the stakeholders and was expected to be finalized at the end of this month which will prove to be revolutionary in the aviation industry, said Capt Shujaat Azeem, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Aviation.

He was presiding over the meeting at Headquarters PCAA, where he addressed all the Directors of PCAA. DG CAA Air Marshal (Retd) Mohammad Yousaf and all the Directors gave their input on aviation policy.

Azeem said that reshaping the National Aviation Policy was their first priority as last aviation policy was made back in 2000 and no new policy had been introduced for the last 14 years. He also said that in order to prepare the first draft of National Aviation Policy, they had consulted all the stakeholders, aviation experts and top universities around the world.

In this regard, they had studied the aviation policies of Austria, Singapore, China and Canada and had also availed the expert opinion and help of four PhD Professors of Embry Riddle University of Florida (USA).

Azeem also said that New Aviation Policy would promote public-private partnership and would provide breakthrough in the aviation industry as it would enable Pakistani citizens to come up with their own ventures and help aviation industry grow. New Aviation Policy will also boost general aviation sector which will in turn enhance pilots’ training and grow tourism in country.

Azeem applauded the efforts of DG CAA on successful Hajj operation and also praised the smooth operations of Hajj flights at different airports.
