KARACHI: NED University of Engineering and Technology’s Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mohammad Afzal Haque on Tuesday constituted a committee to investigate the employee’s Life Insurance Policy matter going on with EFU Company and sought a report before December 2015.

Talking to PPI, VC said the life insurance issue has been hanging between EFU and University’s administration since last two years as it had overcharged the university’s employees against fixed premium. He said he had already formed a committee to investigate the matter which had assured him that it will come up with some sort of solutions.

It may be noted that NEDUET’s employees are being charged for Life Insurance premium by the university but university is reluctant to pay the amount to said insurance company so in the result company has stopped the policy of employees due to the non-payment since last two years.

Dr Afzal said previous administration was responsible for the university’s internal and external matters. He said they are trying to resolve employees’ all kind of issues on priority basis so as to provide them benefit. He said if EFU is reluctant to continue its agreement with university’ employees, then it has to return all premium funds that were paid by the university employees.

VC said they are looking for another insurance company that could deal employees’ health insurance so that they could be exempt from the responsibility of employees’ health and the company will directly deal with employee’s health issues.

He said they are bringing reforms in education so that students could be facilitated as they had brought reforms in semester system.
