NID polio drive kicks off

KARACHI: Tree-day National Immunization campaign has been kicked off in all 42 Union Councils (UCs) of district central on Monday aimed tight security. Deputy Commissioner, District Central, Dr Syed Saifur Rehman administered polio and vitamin A drops to children and inaugurated the campaign. “Campaign is targeting 3,50,000 children of under 5 years of age in all UCs of district central, for which required security is provided with the help of police department,” he said while talking to parents and officials.

Dr Saif said that there are eight UC medical officers, 245 polio teams and 49 Area In-charges in Gulberg, 13 UC MOs, 343 polio teams and 68 Area In-charges in North Karachi, nine UC MOs, 262 polio teams and 53 Area In-charges in North Nazimabad, while 11 UC MOs, 277 polio teams and 55 Area In-charges are performing their duties in Liaquatabad to complete this campaign successfully.

As many as 1125 mobile polio teams are also taking part in this campaign throughout the district. “Around 0.35 million children of under 5 years would be administered drops to save them from polio virus. Parents and guardians should get their kids immunized against polio disease,” the DC central emphasized.
