Nine injured in New Year celebration firing

KARACHI: Nine people, including two girls, were injured in aerial firing on the occasion of New Year celebrations in the metropolis on Thursday night.

As new year started after 12:00 pm in the night, people started jubilan aerial firing in almost all parts of the city as a result of which, nine people were injured.

The aerial firing occured in different areas of Karachi including Nazimabad, North Karachi, Shadman Town, Saddar, Jamsheed Quarters, Mehmoodabad, Clifton, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulistan-e-Johar, Korangi, Liaquatabad, Lyari and other localities.

The injured were identified as Nabeel, 30, son of Ghulam Sarwar; Saqib, 20, son of Afroz; Imran, 25, son of Samiullah; Salman, 30, son of Jafar; Jois, 45, Naseeb, 25, son of Samar; Akram, 17, son of Rafiq; and two girls Safia, and Amna. They were shifted to different hospital for treatment.
