Nine killed in Karachi encounters

KARACHI: Karachi police on Wednesday claimed to have killed nine alleged criminals, including members of banned outfit, in different encounters in the city.

SSP Central claimed that one Muhammad Ali alias Kuppi, 40, resident of New Karachi, Sector 11 J, was killed in an encounter with police near Nala Stop in New Karachi. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities. Police said that the accused was affiliated to Lyari gang war. He was wanted to police in 16 cases, police said.

Four alleged members of banned outfit were killed in encounter with police near Toll Plaza along Superhighway. The bodies were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities. Police said that the three of them were identified as Zakir Ullah, Muhammad Ismail and Shah Faisal and they belonged to a banned outfit.

In another encounter, a criminal was killed by police in Paposh Nagar, Nazimabad. The body was shifted to ASH for an autopsy.

Umair alias Shikari, opened fire on police and injured three cops at Banaras Flyover. However, in retaliatory firing he was killed on the spot. The body and the injured were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

Sachal police said that on a tip-off, they conducted a raid in the area and killed two kidnappers after exchange of fire and recovered a hostage, safely. Police said that their four accomplices managed to flee from the scene. The bodies were shifted to ASH for medico-legal formalities. The identity of the victims could not be ascertained yet.
