No room for corrupt officers: food minister

KARACHI: Provincial Minister for Food Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar has said that there was no room for corrupt officers in his department and departmental action was being taken against corrupt officers.

This he said while presiding over a personal hearing against corrupt officers. Hearing was also attended by Secretary Food Saeed Ahmed Awan and Additional Secretary Agha Zaheer. On this occasion he ordered to issue final showcause notices to Ziauddin Shaikh former district food controller Shaheed Benazirabad who intentionally with collaboration of centre in-charge Ghulam Sarwar Mehar destroyed wheat worth of more than 4 core and 14 lac rupees during year 2009-10.

Minister for food added, ‘if these officers do not deposit required amount in government treasury, then they must be taken to task.’

Mehtab directed Secretary Food Saeed Ahmed Awan to complete ongoing inquiries against corrupt officers at the earliest. He said that no corrupt officer to be spared.
