Opinion Poll: (88% Pakistanis trust the results of public opinion surveys)

ISLAMABAD: According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, 88% Pakistanis trust the results of public opinion surveys carried out in the country; 8% Pakistanis do not trust them at all.

A nationally representative sample of adult men and women from across the four provinces was asked, “Some marketing and research organizations hold surveys where public opinion on different topics is taken and then the results of the survey are published countrywide.

Please tell us, how much do you trust the results of such surveys held in Pakistan? Do you trust them a lot, trust them somewhat or you don’t trust them at all?” In response to this question, 39% said that they trust the surveys a lot, 49% said that they somewhat trust them, 8% said that they don’t trust at all and 4% did not respond.

The question was: “Generally, do you trust, somewhat trust or distrust public opinion surveys that are published in your country?”

The study was released by Gilani Research Foundation and carried out by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International. The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 1932 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during August 10 – August 17, 2015. Error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level.
