Opinion Poll: (Divided opinion regarding YouTube ban in Pakistan: Survey)December 21, 2015
ISLAMABAD: According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, 51% Pakistanis believe that Pakistani government’s ban on YouTube should not be lifted; 46% said that it should be lifted.
A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked, “In September 2012, the Pakistani government banned YouTube nationwide for an unspecified amount of time.
Some people feel that the government should now lift this ban whereas others feel that the ban on YouTube should be maintained. Should the ban on YouTube be lifted or not?” In response to this question 46% said that the ban should be lifted and 51% said that the ban should not be lifted. 3% did not respond.
The study was released by Gilani Research Foundation and carried out by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International. The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 1867 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during November 02 – November 09, 2015. Error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level.
