Opposition leader opens heart and wallet for Sukkur hospital

LARKANA: Opposition leader in the National Assembly, Syed Khurshid Ahmed Shah, has said that he will help build Ghulam Mohammad Mahar Medical College and Hospital (GMMMC&H) Sukkur by donating 50 beds, two coaster buses and a Colour Doppler machine, to enable the hospital to work properly.

A press release issued by the Media Coordinator of BBMU VC, Abdul Samad Bhatti, said Shah was talking to a delegation of PM&DC led by its Registrar, Brig. Hafeezuddin Ahmed Siddiqui, which called on him at the parliament lodges in Islamabad late on Monday evening.

Vice Chancellor, Benazir Bhutto Medical University (BBMU), Larkana, Prof Asghar Chana, was also present in the meeting.

Khurshid Shah told the delegation that all requirements of the GMMMC & Hospital will be fulfilled jointly on priority basis by the BBMU and Sindh Government for which he has already talked to Sindh Government concerned authorities.

VC said that MRI & CT scan machines are being procured for the hospital and tender for other necessities has already been floated in the newspapers.

Syed Khurshid Shah said that Sindh Government will soon sanction extra budget for the college & hospital adding that under-construction Labour Hospital in Sukkur will also be affiliated with GMMMCH through an agreement.

Shah advised PMDC to be considerate with medical colleges of interior Sindh.

Khurshid said that he is expecting better education & facilities in Sindh adding he helped greatly in establishing IBA in Sukkur.

Shah told BBMU VC that ban imposed in fresh recruitments does not apply to universities hence he can fill his faculties for the benefit of the students.

PMDC delegation assured the opposition leader that very soon they will visit college & hospital reconsider their decision of imposing ban over admissions.
