Pak veterans draw match against Boland Veterans in South Africa

Karachi: The opening match played between Pakistan Veterans and Boland Veterans Teams ended in an exciting tie on Thursday at Boland Park in Paarl, South Africa. The match was originally scheduled to be a thirty-over affair each but was reduced to twenty overs each following heavy rains.

Pakistan veterans won the toss and put Boland Veterans to bat first. Boland veterans scored 147-3 in 20 overs. Opener J. Rheede scored 50 runs off 45 balls. S. Conrad scored 33 runs. For Pakistan, Najeeb Sadiq and Jaffer Qureshi took one wicket each.

Pakistan veterans had to score 153 runs to win in rain reduced 20 overs as per D/L formula but could only score 152 runs for loss of five wickets and the match ended in a tie.

Ghaffar Kazmi scored 30 runs off 21 balls while Rizwan Nisar scored 29 runs off 22 balls. Former Pakistan International Sajid Ali scored 25 runs off 18 balls. For Boland veterans Koen, Henry and David took one wicket each. Pakistan veterans will now play their next match at Newlands Ground in Cape Town on Saturday.
