Pakistan says drone strikes harming efforts against terrorism

Islamabad: Pakistan has said that the US drones strikes are harming its efforts in to eliminate terrorism in North Waziristan Agency.

Foreign Office Spokesperson Tasnim Aslam, during weekly briefing in Islamabad on Thursday, said Pakistan has succeeded in generating strong public opinion against drones as we have witnessed increasingly emerging consensus among international community against drones.

Replying to a question about foreign assistance for Internally Displaced Persons, she said Pakistan has not made any appeal to international community and will not ask for that in future.

She said encouraging response is being received from China and Russia about North Waziristan operation.

Regarding future of Pakistan-India dialogue process, the spokesperson said Foreign Secretaries of the two countries will meet soon to determine the direction of composite dialogue.

To a question about Israeli brutalities perpetrated in Gaza, she said Pakistan calls upon international community to stop genocide of Palestinians. She said Pakistan supports two states solution with Bait-ul-Maqdas as capital of the Palestinian state.
