Parliamentarians resolve to defend democracy

Islamabad: Parliamentary Secretary for Finance, Rana Muhammad Afzal Khan has said all segments of society including political parties, lawyers and traders today firmly stand united for continuation of the democratic system in the prevailing political situation.

Speaking on a motion in the National Assembly ,he said it is unprecedented in the country’s history that all the political forces are showing unity for rule of law and constitution as well as democracy.

He said major political parties have rendered great sacrifices for democracy but it is regrettable that some parties want to sabotage this process at a time when a military operation has been launched against the terrorists.

He said chief of Pakistan Awami Tehreek Tahirul Qadri is the agent of foreign powers who do not want development and democracy taking roots in the country. He said we however will continue our development agenda without getting intimidated from the cheap tactics of protesting leaders.

Maulana Qamar-ud-din said PAT and PTI should follow democratic and constitutional way to get their demands fulfilled.

He said those sitting in the parliament have come to the house after securing millions of votes and a group of few thousand people cannot be allowed to topple the elected government through use of force.
