KARACHI: The elevator of Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) has not been functioning for some time due to technical fault but the hospital administration has still to get it repaired.

A administrative official of Civil Hospital Karachi told PPI that the patients suffering from different diseases have been facing great hardships for last two days as the elevator of the five-storey building has gone out of order. He said shifting of patients from emergency to other departments to this building has become difficult.

He informed that hundreds of patients of Kidney, Surgical Ward 3,4,5, Plastic Surgery, Gynaecology Ward 1 to 3 and Intestine Ward are facing problems as the elevator of the building is not working.

The patients and their attendants request the hospital administration for early repair of elevator as shifting of patients on stretchers is not easy through staircase.

Medical Superintendent, CHK Prof Mohammad Saeed Qureshi was not available for comment on phone despite several attempts.
