Pavilion of Qayyum Sports will be complete in Dec: MinisterMarch 17, 2016
Peshawar: Pavilion of the Qayyum Sports Complex with more updated sports facilities for the budding youngsters would be completed by end of December 2016.
This was stated by Minister for Sports, and Youth Affairs Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan while talking to reporter during the stone breaking ceremony of the beautification of Qayyum Sports Complex.
Deputy Secretary Sports Adil Saeed Safi, Director General Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Miss Rashida Ghaznavi and office-bearers of various associations were also present.
Mahmood Khan said that the construction of the new Pavilion of the Qayyum Sports Complex was actually started six months earlier before finalizing all documental formalities in order to complete the project transparently. He said the total cost for the completion of the project was 163.306 million.
The Pavilion, he said, will be equipped with all updated facilities like player changing rooms, facilities for indoor games, gymnasium with installation of full weight machines, multiple halls, and space for running Athletic, Snooker, Table Tennis, Martial Games like Taekwondo, Judo, Wushu, Karate, Wrestling Academies.
Having space for nine different academies, he said certainly it would benefit the upcoming players at large and with the operation of these academies new talent would be come up to represent the province at national and international levels.
He said talks have already continued to have services of trained coaches and soon a viable and quick way would be adopted so that to appoint new coaches as far as running of the affairs of these academies inside Qayyum Sports Complex are concerned.
We want to search out raw talent and for groom them into quality players we need qualified coaches for this purpose we have initiated long term policy rather to go for a short-term policy, Mehmood Khan added.
He said another project including construction of walk-track for families with flood-lit facilities including renovation, beautification, pavement of roads inside Qayyum Sports would be completed by June 30, 2016 at a cost of Rs. 10.40 million for which work order to the contractor has already been issued.
He said to ensure full flood-lit facilities to the players and visiting families for jogging and walking has also been installed besides updating green patches and other beautification work. It would look like a multi-purpose sports facilities after the beautification work, Mehmood Khan added.
He disclosed that the players who excelled at national and international levels and hailing from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would soon be honoured with cash prizes. We are in a process of finalizing all things only to facilitate the genuine and deserving players, he said.
