PBC flays Imran and Qadri for illogical demandsAugust 18, 2014
KARACHI: Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) executive chairman Ibrar Hassan on Tuesday flayed Pakistan Tehreek Insaf (PIT) Chairman Imran Khan and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri for pressing the government to meet their illegal demands through sit-ins staged in the capital city.
Flanked by the representatives of Supreme Court Bar Association and Sindh High Court Bar Association, Ibrar Hassan, said while talking to reporters at apex court’s Karachi registry that PTI chairman’s announcement to mount a civil disobedience campaign would plunge country further into the economic crisis and such campaign comes within ambit of treason.
He said that Imran Khan wanted to storm the red zone in a bid to lay siege to the parliament and other sensitive installations in the red zone. He said that parliament was right forum to discuss the political issues and resolve controversies, adding that such illegal demands cannot be fulfilled by mounting pressure on government through mass protests.
Ibrar said that PTI had also approached the election tribunals but they could not produce any evidence to corroborate rigging allegations that is why their election petitions were dismissed by tribunals.
He warned PML-N government against accepting any illegal demands of PTI and PAT while succumbing to their influence. He took server pot-shot at Tahirul Qadri saying that he was making mockery of the state.
Ibrar said that legal fraternity would play its role to foil the bids aimed at derailing democracy.
