ISLAMABAD: President Pakistan Businessmen and Intellectuals Forum (PBIF) and former provincial minister Mian Zahid Hussain on Thursday lauded the military and political leadership for announcing general amnesty for militants fighting the State since a decade.

The situation in Balochistan deteriorated after assassination of Nawab Akbar Bugti which is now coming under control. The vision of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Chief Minister Balochistan Dr. Abdul Malik and Commander of Southern Command, Lt. Gen. Nasser Khan Janjua will transform Balochistan into a peaceful province, he said.

Mian Zahid Hussain said that immediate steps for rehabilitation of those who lay down their arms is very important, adding that credit of change in policy goes to the political as well as current military leadership.

He said including Baloch militants in mainstream would foil all the efforts by the enemies to destabilise Pakistan through terrorism. The veteran business leader lauded the army for preferring political solution of the political problem.

US, ADB, WB etc. had always pushed Pakistan to import gas from Turkmenistan which is not viable because of the law and order situation in Afghanistan. Similarly, projects like Iran pipeline, Gwadar Port and Pak-China economic corridor can never be beneficial unless there is peace in Balochistan.

He said that CM Balochistan has ensured a change due to full backing of the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif who desires peace in Balochistan so that the province could be brought at par with the developed areas of country.
