PIA condemns firing on flight

Karachi: PIA has condemned the aircraft shooting incident on PIA flight PK 756 Riyadh-Peshawar on the night of 24thJune 2014. PIA flight PK 756 operated by Captain Tariq Chaudhry ; the A310 aircraft upon decent before landing at Peshawar airport was fired upon from ground causing bullet injuries to PIA stewards, Ijaz Khan Afridi and Wajid Khan and a Lady Passenger, Ms. Maqnoon Begum. All three were immediately shifted to the hospital for treatment where the lady passenger lost her life.

The captain of the flight using his expertise landed the aircraft safely with 196 passengers on board the aircraft.

Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Aviation, Shujaat Azeem, Chairman PIA, Muhammad Ali Gardezi and Managing Director PIA, Muhammad Junaid Yunus expressed their condolence to the family members of the lady passenger who lost her life due to the incident. “The entire PIA regrets this deplorable firing incident. May Allah grant eternal peace to Ms. Maqnoon and a place in Jannah and strength to the family members for this irreparable loss”.

Meanwhile, all airline employees prayed for the speedy recovery of PIA Stewards who suffered bullet injuries and also prayed for the lady passenger. The airline management and employees have said that they are determined to perform their duties and will not be held back due to this type of deplorable incident. PIA will maintain its flight schedule throughout its network, said PIA release.
