PM directs to ensure early completion of energy projects

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has directed to maintain an enhanced inter-ministerial coordination for early completion of energy projects.

Chairing a meeting of cabinet committee on energy here on Wednesday, he stressed that transparency and adherence to relevant laws and rules must be given topmost priority in all the projects.

The Prime Minister said that the initiatives undertaken by the present Government would not only overcome the shortage of energy in the country, but will produce surplus energy in the times to come.

Expressing confidence on the progress made on energy projects, the Prime Minister directed that quality and standard must not be compromised at any cost. He was briefed on the status of various energy sector projects, especially projects earmarked under the umbrella of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Earlier, talking to Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan Hafiz Hafeez-ur-Rehman here Wednesday, the Prime Minister said the development and progress in Gilgit Baltistan is top priority of the government.

He reaffirmed that the federal government will continue to extend its support for the uplift and progress of the social sector of the province during the next five years.
