PM lauds role of police, rangers in Karachi

Karachi: Prime Minister Mian Mohammad Nawaz Sharif has lauded the role of police and rangers in Karachi and urged to focus on the remaining results of the Karachi operation so that the criminals and terrorists could not find an opportunity to regroup for their nefarious designs.

Presiding over a meeting at the Governor House to review law and order situation in Karachi on Monday, he said the Karachi operation continuing for last 27 months on the demand of all political parties should not be assessed only on the number of arrests, cases and convictions, but we have also to keep in mind the results of the operations that are yet to be achieved.

Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan and chief minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah were also present.

The prime minister said law and order situation in Karachi had been poor in Karachi before launching of the operation. He said this operation would have initiated seven to eight years ago. He said before this the foreign traders and investors were reluctant to visit Karachi but now they are visiting the mega city.
