PMA hails Sindh Governor’s stand on PMDC, CPSP

KARACHI: Pakistan Medical Association Centre and PMA Karachi on Monday thanked the Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan on his clear stand on the issues of Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PMDC) and College of Physicians & Surgeon of Pakistan (CPSP).

An emergent meeting of PMA Centre & PMA Karachi was held at PMA House attended by the leadership of PMA , immediate past President PMA Centre Prof S Tipu Sultan, President PMA Karachi Prof M Idrees Adhi, Dr Mirza Ali Azhar, Dr SM Qaisar Sajjad, Dr Shaukat Malik, Dr Ahmad Bhimani, Dr Naseer Ahmed Baloch, Dr Najam F Mahmudi, Dr Shoaib Sobani, Dr Usman Ghani, Dr Khalil Mukaddam.

Dr M Azhar Jadoon, President PMA Centre from Abbottabad, and Dr Aziz Ahmed Lehri, President Elect PMA Centre participated the meeting on video link.

In this particular meeting the issue of provincial PMDC & provincial CPSP was discussed at length. The participants of the meeting were apprised about the latest development in this regard, that all vice chancellors of medical universities of Sindh met with Governor of Sindh Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan. After this meeting, the prestigious institutions of PMDC & CPSP were saved from provincialization and disintegration.

PMA thanked to the Governor of Sindh Ishrat-ul-Ibad for a clear stand and negating such rumours. CPSP is the most prestigious postgraduate institution of Pakistan working since last 52 years. PMDC needs to be continuing as strong federal autonomous body to maintain quality of medical education standards as well as a licensing authority.

PMA also lauded the role of media and civil society to highlight this important issue and raising voice for protection of these hallmark institutions of the country.
