Police arrest 533, including 400 violating pillion riding ban

KARACHI: Karachi police on Saturday claimed to have arrested 533 accused, including more than 400 people for violating the pillion riding ban, in different raids and killed three criminal in encounters with them in the city during the last 24 hours.

According to Central Police Office (CPO) Karachi report, police arrested 400 people during snap checking on the instructions of Additional Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Karachi for violating the pillion riding ban under Section 144.

Spokesmen Karachi police Atiq Sheikh said that police conducted 146 raids in different areas of the city in the consequence of these raids they arrested two murderers, 19 criminals under Arms Act, seven under Narcotics Act, 15 proclaimed offenders, absconders and robbers.

The report stated that three alleged criminal were also killed in separate encounters in Lyari and New Karachi areas of the metropolis. The police also claimed recovering 19 handguns, one hand grenade, drugs and liquor from the possession of arrested accused.
