Police constable, dacoits killed in encounter

Sialkot: A police constable and two accused dacoits were killed in encounter near village Dugri Hariyaan-Phalora, Pasrur tehsil. Reportedly, a newly-wed police constable Mohammad Naveed was going to the Phalora police station after performing his duty, when three unknown armed dacoits halted his motorcycle and made him hostage at gunpoint.

The accused started looting him. As police constable resisted, the dacoits earlier beat him badly physically and later shot him dead, when he started chasing the fleeing accused.

Meanwhile, a police team also reached the spot and stated chasing the accused killers, which opened fire on police. As the police retaliated, two accused were found dead in the local fields, while their third companion managed to escape in the darkness of the night.

Sialkot senior police officials told that the deceased dacoits were identified as identified as Nadeem from Karachi and Arshad from Narowal.

Phalora police have registered a case (No. 291/2014) against the deceased accused dacoits under sections 13/20/65, 302, 324 and 392 PPC and shifted the dead bodies to Govt. Allama Iqbal Memorial Teaching Hospital Sialkot for autopsy, in this regard.

Meanwhile, the martyred police constable Mohammad Naveed was laid to rest in his native graveyard here, as a large number of the people including local senior police officials attended his funeral held here today.
