Police encounter case: Remand of three accused extended

KARACHI: An Anti-Terrorism Court-III (ATC-III) on Wednesday extended the remand of accused, Mohammad Sajid alias Dhakkan, Aijaz Ahmed alias Phepra and Mohammad Saqib alias Token to police custody till 30th September in police encounter case.

Police produced the accused before ATC-III judge under tight security.

Investigation officer Sami Jan requested the court that police needed their further physical custody to trace their other accomplices in the crime. The court accepted police request and remanded the accused, to police custody till 30th September.

Accused were involved in encounter with police on 16th September within the Garden police station jurisdiction. Police claimed to have recovered hand grenades and illegal weapons from the possession of accused.

Accused were also remanded to police custody from 17 to 23 September.

The case FIR 196/2014 was lodged under Section 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 324 (attempt to murder), 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code read with Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act at the Garden police station.
