Islamabad: Parliament has resumed its joint session in Islamabad with Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq in the chair. It is discussing the prevailing political situation in the country.

Taking part in the debate Zahid Khan of ANP said future of the country is connected only with democracy and upholding of constitution.

He said political issues cannot be resolved through sit-ins but only through negotiations within the parliament.

He said his party had also reservations on elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa where their mandate was stolen but still they accepted the results for continuation of democratic system in the country.

Zahid Khan said all the political parties stand behind the government for the sake of democracy and supremacy of constitution.

He appealed to the Prime Minister not to resign under any pressure as it will be a contempt of the parliament and 180 million people.

Mir Hasil Bazenjo said there is wider consensus amongst all political parties that they will not let any harm come to the Parliament and the constitution.

He said it was democratic attitude of the government and the opposition parties which allowed the protesting parties to stage their sit-ins in the federal capital.

But it is regrettable that the protesting parties are now blatantly using abusive language against the political parties and the prime minister.

Condemning the use of derogatory language against the parliament by the protesting leaders, he said those challenging the parliament are bound to see their political death. He appealed to the PTI to resolve their issues through political means.

Aftab Khan Sherpao said Nawaz Sharif is the Prime Minister of the country and he will stay in the office for the next four years.

He said Nawaz Sharif will not resign from the office on the unconstitutional and undemocratic demands of the parties staging drama outside the Parliament House. He said attack on the state institutions including Parliament House has sent a wrong message to the outside world.

He said both the PTI and PAT are equally responsible for these attacks as their leaders have now assembled on the same container. He said parliament is the supreme body and it has raised voice to clear not only the Parliament House but also the entire D-Chowk from the protesters.

He said the protesting parties have committed contempt of the Parliament by declaring it fake. He said the PTI have submitted their members resignations from the National Assembly and the process should be started for acceptance of these resignations.
