PRCS distributes food items among 50,000 displaced families

LANDIKOTAL: Pakistan Red-Crescent Society (PRCS) Fata distributed food items among 50,000 displaced families of North Waziristan and Khyber Agencies.

Chairman PRCS Fata, Ikramullah Jan Kokikhel, while briefing reporters here on Saturday said that PRCS Fata with the cooperating of World Food Program (WFP) had provided emergency food items to 50,000 temporary displaced tribal families of Bara and North Waziristan Agencies. He said four food distribution points, two each in Domel Bannu and Bara Khyber Agency, have been established for the convenience of the displaced persons.

Jan said the food packages consisted of 80 kilograms of wheat flour, 4.55 kilograms cooking oil, eight kilograms of pulses and one kilogram of salt. He said during the last one week, they distributed food items among 10,300 TDPs families in Melwad distribution point while 12,000 families received food packages in Shaheed Abad.

Similarly, Ikramullah Jan said, 25,900 families of North Waziristan Agency were given food items in Bannu during the last one week. He said more 50,000 registered families would receive food assistance before Eid-ul-Fitr.

PRCS official said that with the help of Turkish Red-Crescent Society, they also distributed the Ramazan Package comprising cooking oil, sugar, wheat floor, rice, pulses, and black tea among 1,000 Fata displaced families residing in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

Ikramullah Jan thanked the Pakistan Army officials for their cooperation during distribution of foods among the TDPs families.
