Protests, sits in democratic right

QUETTA: It is right of democratic parties to stage sits in or protest in Islamabad. Calling Army is violation of constitution and law. August 14 is day of country’s independence and prosperity. Instead of dharna or protest Jashn should be celebrated.

These views were expressed by leaders of various political, religious and nationalist parties here Sunday.

Former Amir JUI Balochistan and Chairman Council of Islamic Ideology Maulana Muhammad Khan Sherani said dharna and protest in Islamabad by political parties is part of democracy. To sabotage protest in a crimocratic way is to deteriorate the situation.

He aid August 14 is day of Pakistan’s independence. We should celebrate it mutually. But creating hurdle or calling Army in the way of protest is not correct.

Provincial Secretary PML-N Balochistan Naseebullah Bazai said August 14 gives us lesson of unity. Staging dharna or provocation people on this day is against stability of Pakistan. He said such forces should celebrate jashn on this day along with the government and not stage dharna or protest.

Convenor Pakistan Tehreek Insaf Balochistan Humayun Jogezai said that dharna on August 14 by the party for restoration of democracy and its strength is beauty of democracy. Whoever would create hurdle in this way it would be violation of constitution and law. He aid Army is for entire country and nation. Involving it with politics is not good. He said August 14 protest would be peaceful and prove milestone for strength of democracy.

Malik Imranullah Kakar of MQM said it is right of every democratic party to protest or stage dharna. Instead of creating hurdles in this way government should take measures for the security of protestors.
