PRWF to begin movement against railways privatization

KARACHI: President Pakistan Railways Worker’s Federation (PRWF) Manzoor Ahmed Razi has said that a massive movement would be started right after the Eid under the aegis of PRWF.

He said this while addressing a meeting of PRWF in Railway Colony, Karachi Cantt. Representatives of Railways Workers Union (Open Line) & CBA (Work Shops), Railways Workers Inqlabi Union, All Pakistan Vending & Catering & Wagon Welfare Association, Electric (RTL & Power) Employees Association, All Pakistan Railways Clerical Welfare Association, Railways Loco Running & Shed Staff Unity, Railways Para Medical Staff Organisation, PR Engineering Staff Welfare Association and Railways Christian Staff Welfare Ittehad were also present on the occasion.

Razi said that PRWF’s aim was to unite all unions under one flag to strengthen workers’ unity and struggle against privatization of railways as trains were being given to private operators. Parcel and ticketing business had already been outsourced and track access had been accorded at 15 paisa per ton per KM.

“There is high need to fight for workers’ rights and stop privatization process,” he said.

He said that a majority of different unions/ associations had joined the federation and ensured that no stone would be left unturned to stop the so-called privatization.

Secretary General PRWF Naseem Rao said that the federation would present workable suggestions which would turn Pakistan Railways into a profitable and sustainable organization.
