Raising women’s issues need of the hourAugust 26, 2014
KARACHI: Jamaat e Islami (JI) MNA Ayesha Syed on Wednesday said that raising awareness regarding women’s problems is the need of hour and JI elected representatives are involved in legislation for providing safety to women and their families through parliament.
Speaking on the role of JI in parliament at a meeting in Karachi, Ayesha said that the party was fully involved in electoral reforms and legislation pertaining to women in parliament with the consultation of its legal experts.
She said that the country was passing through a difficult period and resolving issues amicably would be in the best interest of the country.
Speaking on the issue of IDPs, Ayesha said that people should come forward to support displaced people of North Waziristan. “It is Jamaat e Islami that is proving basic facilities to the IDPs in Bannu camps,” she said.
JI Vice President Women wing Durdana Siddiqui said that those who love one another for the sake of Allah and extend cooperation to neighbours are Allah’s beloved people.
JI Women Wing Karachi Chief Farhana Aurangzeb said that they thank Allah on the JI’s founding day that He had chosen them to spread good deeds in the society. She also applauded women members for participating in large numbers in JI’s ‘million march’ to express solidarity with the Gaza people.
