Rally staged against Wapda privatization plan

UMERKOT: Pakistan Hydro Electric Workers Union (PHEWU) took out a rally here on Thursday against privatization plan of Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA).

The rally was started from the office of Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO) that reached local press club, where participants held a demonstraton. They raised slogans against Wapda privatization and strongly criticised PML-N government for denationalizing Wapda.

Addressing the rally, Chairman PHEWU Umerkot Rizwan Ali Kumbhar, Vice Chairman Mohammad Afzal Aresar, Ghanish Puri and Ali Hassan said that appointment of private chief executive in WAPDA would not be tolerated.

They demanded of government to withdraw the appointment of private chief and accept their legitimate demands.

They warned to widen the scope of the protest across the country if their demands are not met with immediate effect.
