Rangers prove capability to resolve civic issues alsoMarch 25, 2015
Karachi: Pakistan Rangers Sindh have proved their excellent capabilities to also resolve the civic issues of Karachi, and its recent proof is complete removal of illegal encroachments from the Empress Market, Saddar area within just two days, a task that the KMC and police had failed to accomplish in two decades.
Saddar area which in past was congested with pushcarts and Patharas wore a new wider and open look with its streets and footpaths free from encroachments. This success of the rangers and the failure of the civic agencies shows the different of performance of a corruption-free, disciplined and motivated institute and inefficient, corrupt, non-professional civil government departments marred with political interference and nepotism. However, it is also a big question mark on the political and administrative utility of the civil government departments that have become a white elephants for the national economy.
Though the problems of encroachments have been resolved, hopefully for good, but to make Saddar area a real pedestrian free zone, it is necessary to fully utilized the CDGK Saddar parking plaza and declare and whole zone as no-parking area, strictly. The much awaited second phase of mini-bus re-routing in the area also needs to be implemented at once.
However, the citizens feel that making the car parking plaza functional, declaring Saddar a no-parking zone, and starting the second phase of bus re-routing in Saddar are not possible by the civic agencies alone and they should request the rangers to assist them in making these long awaited projects fully functional to prove there the writ of law could be maintained provided there is a solid commitment and patriotic, professional and disciplined force to get it implemented.
