Rangers raid near Dr Sattar’s residence, arrest three MQM condemns action, demands release of detainees

KARACHI: Pakistan Rangers Sindh in the wee hours of Monday raided near the residence of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Deputy Convener Dr Farooq Sattar in PIB Colony, cordoned off parts of the area, conducted a search operation and arrested three persons Shamshad, Yasir and Kashif.

The MQM Coordination Committee Pakistan and London said the Rangers removed security camp outside the house of party leader Dr Farooq Sattar, arrested worker and neighbours besides harassing neighbours.

In a statement after the raid, the coordination committee said that on the night between Sunday and Monday, Rangers cordoned off the street near the house of Dr Farooq Sattar, removed security camp and arrested Unit Incharge MQM PIB Sector Unit 58 Rao Shamshad, tortured volunteers performing security duty. It said the Rangers also raided a house in the neighbour of Dr Farooq Sattar and arrested Yasir besides detaining worker Kashif from the street.

The coordination committee demanded of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar and Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah to take notice of the incident, take action against those responsible and release detainees.
