Remand extended in kidnapping case

KARACHI: An Anti-Terrorism Court-III (ATC-III) on Saturday extended the remand of accused Allah Wasaya, Basheer Ahmed and Mohammad Hassan to police custody till 28th September 2014 in a kidnapping for ransom case. Police produced the accused before ATC-III judge under tight security.

Investigation officer requested the court that police needed their further interrogation and physical custody to trace their connections with other accomplices in the crime. The court accepted police request and remanded the accused to police custody till 28th September and directed the police to produce them on this date.

According to prosecution, accuse were involved in abducting one Mansoor Ahmed Soomro and demanding ransom for his safe release within the jurisdiction of Clifton police station.

The case FIR 211/2014 was registered under Section 365-A (kidnapping for extorting property)and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code read with Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act on the complaint of one Maqbool Ahmed Soomro at the Clifton police station.
